NABA has established a wide range of programs specifically developed to assist accounting and finance professionals in achieving their career goals. Each program is geared towards nurturing the relationship between the business community and the Association at large. These programs and member benefits include the following:

NABA also sponsors the Annual National Convention during which both professionals and students interact with representatives from organizations interested in hiring. At the convention, forums are held to discuss major issues of the African American community and many social activities are planned to make sure you have a chance to express yourself. Note: Professional members who return to school are not eligible for student membership.

NABA's official motto is "Lifting As We Climb." We urge you to join us in this effort by becoming a member of the premier association for African-American business professionals.

Q: How much is membership?

A: Professional membership is $120* per fiscal year (July 1- June 30).

*This does not include suggested donations to the NY Chapter Scholarship Fund or National Annual Giving Campaign, which are optional.

Q: When is my membership activated?

A: Your membership is activated when payment is received, processed, and “pending credit card approval”. NABA NY will mail you confirmation that we have received and processed your membership information. Please keep in mind that it takes a while to process credit card payments, so you may receive an email subsequent to the confirmation, requesting additional payment information if for some reason your credit card information was not approved for payment.

Q: Are membership dues prorated?

A: No, membership dues are not prorated. NABA’s fiscal year begins July 1 and ends June 30. If you pay your dues anytime during the current fiscal year, your payment will be applied to current fiscal year and&nbspexpire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Q: Why should I pay my membership dues early?

A: You should pay your membership dues early so that you will be a member in good standing for the current fiscal year. A member in good standing shall be those members on National Offices records&nbspthat are&nbsppaid as of October 31 of each fiscal year. As a member in good standing, you are able to take part and vote in NABA elections. Also, you are may be eligible to purchase discounted registration rates to Annual Conventions.

Q: Why should I include my address, email address, etc. on the application?

A: You need to include all of that information so that we can send you information on our up and coming events. NABA communications are sent out via emails and snail-mail, so it is imperative that you include all relevant information to receive information on our events.

Q: Can I be affiliated with more than one NABA chapter?

A: Yes, you may be affiliated with more than one NABA chapter, but you have to pay an additional $30 fee for every other chapter you want to be affiliated with. Thirty ($30) dollars of your $120 membership dues go to your local chapter and the other ninety ($90) dollars go to NABA’s National Office.

Q: How can I become more active within my local NABA NY chapter?

A: To become more active within your local NABA NY chapter, please visit www.nabany.org to find out about the various committees’ that make up our organization. Once you have found a committee of interest, you can send an email to the contact person stating your interest and desire to become more active.
