Associate Director, Pension Investments  - New York City

The Associate Director of Pension Investments provides leadership in the management of the U.S. Benefit Trust Investments ($4B). Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Finance, the position is responsible for managing external investment consultants, investment managers, trustees and custodians. The Associate Director participates on teams involving members of the company’s Human Resources, Legal and Financial Reporting Departments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and recommend investment policies and strategies to the internal Pension Fund Committee
  • Manage the selection, monitoring and the replacement of investment managers, trustees and custodians
  • Recommend asset allocation policy, taking into consider capital market assumptions and funding status targets
  • Periodic rebalancing of assets
  • Assist in preparation of various corporate reports (e.g. 10-K, 5500, Board of Directors Report, etc.)
  • Work with consultants in conducting asset/liability studies
  • Evaluate funding and expense requirements
  • Work with Legal in reviewing investment management and service level agreements
  • Manage SOX control requirements
  • Assure compliance with laws and regulations
  • Will serve in a Regional Treasury Coordinator role with responsibility to oversee treasury related issues for one of Colgate's reporting divisions.

Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related field
  • A minimum of 12 years of proven progressively responsible related experience.
  • MBA or CFA preferred.
  • Experience or exposure with asset management or knowledge of risk and performance measurement a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to address complex issues with persons having varying degrees of knowledge in investment management
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards desirable  
  • Understanding of fiduciary duties preferred

Senior Analyst - International Accounting - New York City
 

The Senior Analyst International Accounting position supports financial reporting of the business through reconciling, analyzing and reporting financial statement information.

Under minimal supervision, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Global and Regional Colgate Business Service Centers regarding preparation of divisional financial statements for Actuals / Budgets / Estimates.
  • Review Financial Statements – Conduct analytical review of P&L trends, OE&I, Tax provision, B.S. ratios, A/R, Inventory, CTA, etc.
  • Help identify and resolve ad hoc issues
  • Liaison to the CBS Regional Centers and Hubs for Europe and So Pacific, providing guidance on technical accounting and reporting issues, to ensure compliance with Colgate Financial Policies (CFP’s).
  • Assist with Cash Flow Reporting by coordinating recurring and one-time adjustments.
  • Review of Divisional comments submitted for major variances in Cash Flow, with further investigation as needed, for Cash Flow review with senior management
  • Prepare Reconciliation & Analysis of Divisional Retained Earnings
  • Perform year-end review of Income Taxes Paid by Division
  • Participate in BPC system upgrades and efficiency enhancements
  • Assist with PwC audit deliverables and SOX Control testing

  • Division / Subsidiary Finance Managers
  • Colgate Business Service Centers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Accounting degree and/or certification (Bachelors or masters with accounting concentration and/or CPA/CMA) required
  • At least 5-6 years of relevant experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • System and data analysis required
  • BPC use preferred
  • SAP working knowledge preferred
  • Understanding of US GAAP/ CFPs required
  • Understanding of statutory accounting a plus
  • Understanding of Cost Accounting a plus

This objective extends to assisting the management of the Company and audit locations to attain effective controls at a reasonable cost. The employee also performs special reviews as requested by senior management. Federal Tax Manager – New York City

Description

This role encompasses all aspects of federal tax including tax accounting, compliance, planning and special projects. The individual would work with finance and tax team to ensure seamless, timely, efficient, and accurate tax reporting and compliance. The candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of tax reporting under ASC 740 as well as domestic tax compliance experience.

Tax Accounting

  • Prepare current and deferred income tax provision.
  • Review, analyze and document complex transactions recorded in tax balance sheet accounts
  • Perform balance sheet test for deferred tax asset and liabilities
  • Review annual tax footnote disclosure in accordance with SEC filing requirements
  • Liaise with external auditors and lead tax team to explain and support tax provision and transactions in tax balance sheet
  • Perform research under ASC 740 and effectively communicate conclusions


Federal Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and/or review quarterly estimates, tax return calculations and tax forms for select domestic entities
  • Consolidate domestic cash tax expense for estimates and tax return and lead tax team to analyze return to provision differences and explain significant variances
  • Review consolidated tax return filing for intercompany eliminations and proper form presentation
  • Perform research, analysis, and planning on federal tax issues and make recommendation regarding application of tax laws to the company.


Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree; Master’s in Accounting or Taxation preferred
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in tax accounting and tax compliance; preferred candidate will have minimum of 4 years of Public Accounting experience
  • CPA license, preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of tax reporting under ASC 740
  • Ability to identify tax issues and conduct research
  • Must be highly motivated and demonstrate leadership experience in effectively managing people, working with teams on cross-functional projects and multitasking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate proficient use of tax software and have good excel skills
  • Readiness to travel 10% travel annually as needed
