AIDS Walk New York

NABA NY is happy to participate in this year's AIDS Walk New York. The AIDS Walk benefits GMHC and more than 40 AIDS service organizations throughout the tri-state area. The mission of GMHC is to fight to end the AIDS epidemic and uplift the lives of all affected.

The AIDS Walk will take place on Sunday, May 21st, in Central Park. The walk will begin at 8:30am at 59th St. and 5th Ave. The length of the walk is 6.2 miles. If you would like to participate in the walk, please sign up via the following link: https://ny.aidswalk.net/ken2bfree. Donations may also be made using this link. The NABANY team will meet at the corner of 59th & 5th in front of the Plaza hotel fountain at 8:00am.

NABA NY Golf & Executive Networking Event

  • Fiddler's Elbow Country Club

Please join us for a wonderful day of golf and networking! This event is for both Golfers and Non-Golfers. The price includes Lunch, Awards Reception, Golf or the Golf Clinic, and also games AND prizes for Closest to the LineClosest to the Pin and the Most Improved Clinic Participant.

Itinerary:
Registration & Lunch 11:30am
Golf & Golf Clinic 1pm
Cocktail Reception & Awards 5pm

For Golfers:
We will begin sending groups out on the course at 1pm. This is not a shotgun start. Format is best ball.

For Clinic Participants:
Clinic will begin at 1pm and include 1 hour of Full Swing, 1 hour of Short Game and 1 hour of Putting. You may bring your own clubs if you have them, otherwise clubs will be provided for the clinic. Golf shoes are not required, comfortable tennis shoes will do. No denim, tee shirts or tank tops. Polo style or turtle neck tops are acceptable.

Spring Center for Advancement of Minority Accountants (CAMA) Event for NABA NY Student Members

The National Association of Black Accountants, New York Chapter, presents Spring CAMA. Hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh on Saturday, April 22, 2017 and EY in New York City on Saturday, April 29, 2017. The sessions will be identical. The Center for Advancement of Minority Accountants (CAMA) is an instrumental program developed to encourage the next generation of young professionals (students) to acquire business acumen. Workshops will be focused on professional development. We will be conducting mock interviews at the events.

NABA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS… we are again requesting your time and talent for our NABA VITA sites in Corona, Queens; and Amityville, Long Island for the upcoming 2017 Tax Season.

  • In order to serve, volunteers MUST COMPLETE IRS online training, including VOLUNTEER STANDARDS, CONDUCT & ETHICS and the accompanying tests.
     
  • Log on to  www.LINKLEARNCERTIFICATION.COM for full details. Testing Portal and full study materials are available. Volunteers are encouraged to be certified beyond the Basic Level.  2 attempts are allowed at certification. Passing score is 80%. Email completed Exams Certificates to vita@nabany.org.
     
  • Volunteers will prepare basic Federal and State returns for low-income taxpayers, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Additional Volunteer “classroom” Training will be offered. Please reach out to the Tax Committee at vita@nabany.org for more details.
